Up in flames - who pays for gifts?

Postby Xmas Present on Wed Dec 10, 2008 2:57 pm

Last weekend, my family experienced something I thought was an urban legend. Our Christmas tree caught on fire and the house was engulfed in flames in mere minutes. Thank God we all got out safely. We’ve filed a claim and the process is just beginning. My question is this: my mother had sent the kids an Xbox for Christmas along with several hundred dollars worth of games, controllers and other accessories. Whose insurance, if any, would cover replacing these gifts? And will they pay in time for Christmas. I don’t care if we have to have Christmas in a motel, but I’m hoping to have some sort of a Christmas despite the house burning to the ground.

In case anyone is wondering, my homeowner's insurance is covering the Xbox! Merry Christmas all.
